So i took a suuuuuuuuuuper extended sabbatical from this blog and if any of you are still out there....how's it been?

All i can say about how I've been is that university has this funny way of being both exciting and utterly cringe-worthy at the same time.

In the meantime, i'll refrain from any golden globes business and just throw this shot out there; I love fall fashion and i can never get enough of chunky knits and fall shorts

Let's go outside and enjoy it, but to an extent: Sunscreen it up. We are all susceptible to the sun's damaging effects. And for those of you nay-sayers who complain endlessly about oily, smelly sunscreen, check out a brand called La Roche-Posay. Their sunscreen is absolute perfection and good for those of us with sensitive skin as well. Not entirely sure how accessible it is outside Canada, but use your googling skills to find out! Worth it, I promise.

Experimenting with different blog layouts...and i abbreviated my blog title. Out with the old?

First off I want to mention http://www.jewelryartdesigns.com/
I was gifted this ring and I can honestly say I have been wearing it every single day since it arrived in the mail. I love rings and I am overly picky when it comes to finding ones I can wear day in and day out so I was so glad to receive this one. Simple, understated, and versatile. Perfect for everyday wear.
Their real selling point in my mind however is that so much of the jewelry is really over-the-top in terms of colouring and design; there are a bunch of pieces I have seen on that site which would look really fun with simple outfits. Examples include this bad boy and these .

I gave it a try yesterday with great results. It worked on my (thick thick thick) hair no problem, didn't pull any strands out, and friends, its the PINK EDITION. So needless to say I have never felt more like Barbie in my life (in the best of ways). It has multiple heat settings (and rest assured I used the highest) and heats up in no time. I was told by friends that my hair looked great last night, which as we all know, is a total plus. So i know I could be giving more picks from the catwalks but honestly, something else entirely has been on my mind:

The crap weather.

In fact its nothing new that from now to late april the weather here is wet, slushy, and wholly unpredictable. it therefore surprises me that I have waited this long to invest in a pair of quality rain boots. Thankfully I have been able to do so without totally sacrificing how aesthetically pleasing I like my footwear to be.

I picked up a pair of Hunter Rain Boots in High Gloss (Black). I LOVE THEM. Below, a few different excellent rainboots:

RIP McQueen. Heard about his death yesterday and I couldn't be more upset. The man was a visionary, a true standout. Rest assured the fashion world will mourn his passing for a long time to come.

Wow.

I finally have my laptop back, approx a month later, and friends, it feels good.

I have missed a zillion posts and i can't wait to catch up.

Thought I'd dedicate this post to two newly found brands that I absolutely adore: MK2K and LnA, both of which are not new brands but they are to me! I recently bought a jacket from MK2K, and a top from LNA but you won't be seeing either until springtime since...well...they're spring articles with short sleeves no less, and it is DEFINITELY WINTER here.

So i went to the lady gaga concert. And despite the ridiculous (and i do mean two hour) wait for her to come on......i LOVED IT.

She put on a spectacular show, had a ton of glorious outfit changes any fashion lover could appreciate, sang all the right songs, and was shockingly adorable, relatable, and humble when she chitchatted (often) with the audience. I won't go into too much detail so as not to spoil it for the rest of you who are anxiously waiting for her to land in your town..

I know I'm long overdue for an outfit post but I just have not found the time to get anyone to take a halfway decent picture of me and probably won't until at least the end of this week, but I would like to share with you what will inspire my purchasing choices this holiday season (this is going to be a winter-inspired post....we get a crapload of snow over here):

Yep, the above post title references what is still one of my favorite songs, "all falls down" by kanye west. Before he became king of the douchebags. altho not gonna lie....i still like the music he puts out, i just don't support it as much.

Anyways, what follows is a new fave pic, featuring the astonishing Karlie Kloss. I kind of love it when fashion shoots don't take themselves too seriously and sort of blend into the realities of our day to day lives. Be warned, this is a summery photo, and for those of us freezing our derrieres off in close-to-winter weather, this might make you cringe.

Anybody else really, really excited for halloween? What are your costumes? I can tell you right now mine is not very interesting whatsoever. But I promise I really did try to complete two different, more awesome costumes and since I just couldn't find the missing pieces, I am being lame and wearing a mucho boring/predictable costume that's been worn a million times before, and probably better. Hopefully I'll have pictures afterwards!

Thanks for all the well wishes! I'm feeling a lot better although I probably took a step back in terms of regaining my voice because I went to the Mika concert last night....holy crap he KILLED IT. The guy has boundless energy, and it's infectious. Can you believe that at the beginning of the concert some girl behind me asked me to SIT DOWN??? Ugh. Everybody else was standing.

Bought some new stuff yesterday, slowly realizing that the majority of my wardrobe is gray and black....and I kinda like it. Also slowly starting to spend upwards of 100 on single items now that I make money...and i kinda like it. :) Can't wait to show you guys my sweet purchases.

Starting to want to spend money on good-quality jewllery too so i can keep it instead of having it turn copper or turn my finger purple. I have my eye on that crazy Yves st laurent ring that's sold out everywhere.

So I really had been planning on doing some outfit posts but then i got sick (think uber attractive sneezes, stuffy, red noses, and sexy sexy coughs) so i pretty much adopted a uniform of alternating pyjamas. Not very exciting. Trust.

I was planning on doing some MAJOR shopping today....you know what. I'm just gonna straight up do it and bring some daytime tylenol cold along with me (that stuff is what's keeping me going right now)

I liked Chloe but didn't looove it as much as past seasons...

And dear lord there's a ton of beige on the runways! Which i love but cannot wear due to my skin tone...sigh. Trust me I have already tried....it just looks like I caught an exotic virus.

Lots of models really just slip under the radar for me and blur into the same model over and over but i find this girl to be drop-dead gorgeous and i can't wait to see more of her.

on a more intellectual note...anybody read a book called "What Remains"? If you haven't, its a beautifully written account of a woman who lost both her husband, Anthony Radziwill, and her two best friends...JFK jr and his wife, pretty much within weeks. I love all kinds of books but this one was a very different kind of read....check it out! I could not put it down.

I'm going to start throwing out collages a lot because they're so darn fun. know what else is fun? organizing things (nerdalertnerdalert). But srsly. i am anal retentive about organizing and it just MAKES ME HAPPY. so there.

you have your; stolen girlfriends club ripped jeans , grey jacket from helmut lang (i am seriously starting to fall in love with helmut lang...we're not talking puppy love folks, we're talkin true love. i wanna tie the knot with one of his leather jackets), gorgeous lame csociety dress,black acne heels (is acne killin it or what), alexander wang heels with gold buckles (drool), green acne jacket, two jackets from nastygal (the blonde model in the center and the model with the hat), minimum colourful cardigan (so different...i love it), louis de gama peach/black dress, DVF bedazzled cardigan, and last but not least, an elizabeth and james dress (simple but with an edge. need it.)

So is it just me, or are stores seriously lacking these days?
i'm talkin urban outfitters, zara, h&m, and even topshop....i just can't find tons of goodies anymore!
that's not to say these stores don't have awesome things....just not nearly as many as i'm used to :)
which sort of makes me turn to the higher-end side of things (NEVER a good thing for my poor wallet).

And anybody ever heard of a U.K store called River Island? I'm kinda wishing they would put one in Canada, or at the very least start shipping here. i ATTACKED that store on my recent visit to London. I loved it. New Look was pretty interesting too (Brits just do it better, guys)

On that note, some things my closet wishes I would buy...

This is what I wore out saturday night!
gawd i cannot apologize enough for the crappy quality of the picture, i have yet to decide how to properly take the kinds of fantastic pictures I see on all your blogs....i think a tripod might be my answer?

you can't really see the whole outfit but the skirt is a plain black tight short skirt, worn with black tights and way-too-high black heels (not good for dancing, ladies.)
this is a favorite shirt...mostly because its so different. I love it even more for its structured shoulders (which, again, aren't very well displayed in this picture).

What I Wore

Before heading to a wedding in London a week ago I snapped a few pix of myself.
The dress is absolutely one of my faves - its a Marc Jacobs Beauty.

Excuse the horrid state of the hotel room!....as well as the lighting in the second pic. i promise better quality pics soon (i hope)!

oh and the shoes, though you can barely see them in my pics, are a hot pair of Modern Vintage heels (which I got for a ridiculous steal at 100 as I bought them wholesale...as opposed to 400)

my pair are the gold version though, with a silvery tint.

So this is what I wore out last night...please excuse me for the boring shot but I think at some point I'll start asking a friend to take interesting pictures...this was taken very rushed last night by a begrudging sister..

I'm just only learning the ins and outs of photobucket! Can you tell?

So tomorrow night or saturday I will likely put up an outfit post/ a few photos from my london trip but I wanted to show you guys these fierce pix before I forgot:Alexis Dziena, Nylon Mag sept 2009, she's on entourage, one of my guilty pleasures! I love this pic to death.

Vogue's September issue had one particular standout photoshoot. It's dreamy, it's luxurious, and its fantastical; in short, everything you expect from one of the most revered fashion mags in the biz.

So there are many trends that have been kicking around, and that have stuck it out despite at first only looking like one collective flash in the pan.

These include
a) jean shirts
b) oversized "boyfriend" blazers
c)acid wash jeans

I have to profess my love for all three.
And I think if done right, they can look like they were utilized effortlessly; Here are some suggestions!

Lastly I have to draw your attention to one of my fave Nylon covers:

Isn't it so kickass? Not something worn easily in real life, but the way the picture is put together, this girl looks like she can take over the world. Now if she could just get her act together...

To make a new beginning

Well hello.

So after about a year of reading my faveeeee blogs day in and day out, I decided it was time for me (read: i thought it would be enjoyable) to make one of my own.

This really just a forum for me to offer some capsule wardrobe ideas, direct your focus to some incredible photoshoots, and generally have some fun with fashion (as well as discuss some trends)!

To start off, let's have a look at two fall capsule wardobes, shall we? One is more casual, while one is a tad fancier. Bear in mind, you don't need these exact items that I list, but something along those lines, if you're into the outfit I'm going to shove your way :)

ps, saw this watch in person, as well as the dress....both are to die for, though admittedly the dress is relatively affordable while the watch is crazy expensive...but absolutely drool-worthy.
